Four healthy barley babies

Prior to using AIM BarleyLife®, Sandy Combs’ daughter, Jennifer Haner, had a series of three miscarriages within the first eight weeks of pregnancy. She was told that she would probably never be able to have a baby. After using AIM’s green barley powder product in 1994, she became pregnant again but was told that she would never carry the baby to full term. Refusing her doctor’s advice to take steroids, Jennifer took AIM’s product several times a day. She amazed her doctor by carrying the baby full term with a birth weight of 8 lbs 13 oz. Since then, three more healthy babies have been born to the Haner family, with the newest arrival, Isabella, born this January 20, 2004.

The whole Haner family uses AIM BarleyLife®. And, as their grandmother says, “I can assure you that they are some of the smartest and most beautiful little darlings on this planet.”

Wow, what an inspiring story…and what a beautiful family!

AIM Athlete in Action

J.R. Celski—National Short Track Inline Speed Skating Champion

At age 13, J.R. Celski is the most decorated skater in his region among skaters 18 years old and younger. He has earned medals in seven National Inline Speed Skating events, including four gold medals since his first inline competition in 1995. We took a little time to get to know this accomplished young man.

AIM: J.R., what got you started in skating?

J.R.: My two older brothers started speed skating when I was two and I thought it looked fun. I wanted to start skating from then on and got my first pair of plastic inline skates for my third birthday. I’ve been skating ever since.

AIM: What do you do to stay in top condition?

J.R.: I train six days a week. Three days—two hours of inline skating; two days—two hours of ice skating; one day—off-ice drills. I also have a conditioning class, run Mondays and Thursdays, lift weights on Tuesdays and Fridays, and do leg workouts on Wednesdays.

AIM: Wow. That’s quite a schedule. What part does nutrition play in your regimen?

J.R.: I know my body needs to perform at its absolute best and that means I need to eat nutritious foods and drink lots of water. I take AIM BarleyLife® two times a day, right after I get home from school and right before bed.

AIM: What has been your experience using AIM BarleyLife®?

J.R.: I have been taking AIM BarleyLife® twice a day for the last 18 months. It helps with my endurance, strengthens my immune system so I don’t catch colds so easily, and helped me overcome my allergies, so my training isn’t interrupted.

AIM: You are a very focused young man. What are your goals for the future?

J.R.: My short-term goal in inline skating is to win at Nationals this year, and in ice skating to earn Category One, the most elite category in the US.

Watch for more on this excellent athlete and outstanding young man!

AIM Herbal Fiberblend® provides dietary fiber and helps to detoxify the body

Digestive health problems have an enormous impact on individual health and the wellness of body systems. Many digestive health problems, such as constipation, could be avoided altogether by adopting a lifestyle that incorporates regular exercise and a healthy diet, including the recommended daily intake of fiber and plenty of water.

Changes in diet or routine, travel and eating away from home, physical or emotional stress, illness, or the side effects of medicine can all contribute toward constipation. However, the number one cause of constipation is usually the lack of dietary fiber (in the form of complex carbohydrates), and fluids.

Fiber as a ‘good’ carbohydrate

Eating high-fiber foods is a healthy choice for most people. Nutritionists recommend consuming 25 to 35 grams of fiber per day. The average North American typically consumes 10 to 15 grams of fiber daily.

Fiber is found only in fruits and plants. Since it is a complex carbohydrate, it adds few, if any, calories to the diet. There are two main types of fiber—water-soluble and insoluble. Both types of fiber are required in the daily diet, in the recommended ratio of 3:1 insoluble fiber to water-soluble fiber.

Water-soluble fiber—dissolves in water and is found in oat bran, legumes, psyllium, nuts, beans, and various fruits and vegetables. It forms a bulky gel in the intestine that regulates the flow of water materials through the digestive tract. Water-soluble fiber may help to lower cholesterol and stabilize blood sugar.

Insoluble fiber—cannot be dissolved in water, meaning that our bodies cannot digest it. This type of fiber includes the dissolved parts of plant walls and is found in the greatest amounts in cereals, brans, and vegetables. Insoluble fiber collects water and increases stool bulk in the intestine, promoting bowel movement, and scouring the intestinal walls of waste matter, thereby reducing the risk of colon-related health problems.

Fiber for weight loss

Because fiber is low in calories, it can be added to the diet, providing a greater feeling of satiety without significantly increasing your caloric intake. In addition, fiber’s ability to stabilize blood sugar may also curb the desire to snack. In other words, you may find yourself eating less. This is beneficial in weight-loss programs.

For diets high in protein, dietary fiber helps to detoxify and cleanse the body of the nitrogen waste that is produced as a byproduct of high protein food consumption. Cleansing the digestive system may help to alleviate feelings of constipation.

“In addition, high-protein diets are typically low in dietary fiber,” comments the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. “Studies show that the healthiest diet is one that is high in carbohydrate, low in fat, and moderate in protein,” says the Physicians Committee.1

“For people prone to constipation, limiting foods that have little or no fiber, such as ice cream, cheese, meat, and processed foods, is also important,” according to the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse.2

Fiber in AIM Herbal Fiberblend®

The combination of soluble fiber psyllium and cleansing herbs found in AIM Herbal Fiberblend® helps to maintain bowel regularity, enhances detoxification after consuming proteins, and prepares the body to receive vital nutrients, resulting in whole body health.

AIM Herbal Fiberblend® is a valuable source of dietary fiber. A typical serving of AIM Herbal Fiberblend® contains approximately 5 grams of fiber, and AIM Herbal Fiberblend® contains both insoluble and soluble fiber. Psyllium, the main source of fiber in the product, has over 8 times the bulking power of oat bran.

With cleansing herbs

The concept of keeping the body in harmony to promote wellness is often referred to as cleansing or detoxification. As our world becomes increasingly polluted with toxins found in the environment and the foods we eat, cleansing becomes more important. Herbs have been used for ages, and today, herbal supplementation remains one of the most popular and effective ways to cleanse the digestive system.

AIM Herbal Fiberblend® provides a simple way to cleanse. With AIM Herbal Fiberblend®, there is no need to fast or to take multiple products at different times. No grinding or mixing of the herbs yourself! Each serving of AIM Herbal Fiberblend® provides a complete professional formulation of cleansing herbs in a convenient and ready-to-use powder, or easy-to-take vegetarian capsule.

Depending upon flavor, AIM Herbal Fiberblend® may contain raspberry flavoring, rose hips or capsicum, as well as the following herbal ingredients:

  • Alfalfa—relieves constipation and reduces cholesterol
  • Black walnut hulls—reduces intestinal parasites and improves bowel movement
  • Cascara sagrada—acts as a laxative, stimulating evacuation from the bowels; promotes peristaltic action (muscular contractions in the digestive system)
  • Hibiscus flower—lubricates the intestinal tract
  • Irish moss—helps form bulky stools
  • Licorice root—acts as an anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic
  • Marshmallow root—acts as a mucilage, a sticky substance with adhesive qualities
  • Mullein—soothes stomach cramps
  • Oatstraw—also soothes stomach cramps
  • Passionflower—calms the nervous system and soothes an irritable bowel
  • Psyllium—helps form bulky stools, a natural source of fiber
  • Pumpkin seeds—expels parasites
  • Shavegrass—expels parasites
  • Slippery elm bark—acts as a mucilage, a sticky substance with adhesive qualities
  • Violet—cleanses and expels parasites
  • Witch hazel—acts as a mucilage, a sticky substance with adhesive qualities
  • Yucca—acts as a laxative, stimulating evacuation

Living Well Means Choosing Well

To us at AIM, “living well” means taking care of all your physical, intellectual and spiritual needs so you can pursue the lifestyle that makes you happy. And the key to living well is to acknowledge that the most important factor in your overall health is you—you have the power to improve your health through the lifestyle choices you make.

The Choice is Yours

There are many things in this world that affect our health. But while we have little control over factors such as our genetic makeup or age, we can make a significant impact on our overall health through the lifestyle choices we make. In fact, the United States Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) estimates that over 80 percent of all illnesses have environmental and lifestyle causes.

Just think of all the choices you do have control over. Should you skip a meal, grab a burger or have a salad? Stay at a stressful job or find something more fulfilling? Live in an area with high air pollution or crime, or move? Get out and go for a jog or sit on the couch and watch a game on TV?

Three Simple Steps to Living Well

Although the choices seem endless, making the right choices in just three areas can help you enjoy the quality of life you want. You must eliminate poor lifestyle choices, so you can prepare your body to operate at its best. Nourish your body to give it the fuel it needs to run efficiently. And replenish the items your body may be lacking or need more of due to environmental or physical stresses.

Eliminate

The first step in living well is to eliminate the factors that result in poor health. These may be either lifestyle choices or toxins we expose ourselves to. Here are just a few items that negatively affect our health:

  • smoking
  • excessive alcohol intake
  • too much caffeine
  • lack of exercise
  • drug abuse
  • lack of sleep
  • diet high in processed foods, fats and sugars
  • diet low in fiber, fruits, vegetables and other complex carbohydrates
  • high stress
  • living or working in an area high in pollutants

Along with eliminating bad lifestyle choices, we must also be sure that we’re flushing toxins out of the body. This is known as detoxification. Toxins in the body may include heavy metals, alcohol, drugs, agricultural chemicals, pesticides, fungus, molds, bacteria … any number of things that we are exposed to in our position at the “top of the food chain.” To eliminate toxins from your system, be sure to drink eight or more glasses of pure water a day and eat a diet high in fiber, fruits and vegetables.

Nourish

When you eliminate an unhealthy lifestyle choice, you should replace it with a healthy one. Make sure your body gets the nutrients it needs by eating a well-balanced diet. This is one that is low in fat, processed foods, and sugar, and high in pure water, juices, complex carbohydrates, fiber, fruits and vegetables.

  • 70 to 75% of calories should come from complex carbohydrates (vegetables, fruits and grains)
  • 15 to 20% from proteins (low-fat meats, poultry, fish and legumes)
  • 5-10% from fats

You should also get plenty of exercise and rest. And don’t forget to nurture the other aspects of your life as well—plenty of laughter and a strong social network can also help keep you healthy.

Replenish

While eliminating and nourishing will go a long ways towards helping you maintain your health, there are times when extra stressors deplete the crucial nutrients your body needs to stay strong. For instance, pregnant women, athletes in competitions, people under high stress, those who live or work around chemicals or pollution, or those who are ill or injured all have specific nutritional requirements.

As an example, if you live in an area that has high levels of air pollution, extra doses of antioxidants may help protect your cells from free radical damage.

One Step at a Time

Of course, you can’t expect to change years of lifestyle habits overnight, so take it one step at a time. Pass up that cookie after dinner tonight in favor of a banana or apple. Tomorrow, turn off the TV and go for a walk instead. Many little steps will add up—and soon you’ll be eliminating, nourishing and replenishing your way to a lifetime of good health.

Keep it Simple, Make it Work by Sandy Combs

Recently, Chairman’s Club Member Sandy Combs took time to share with us what is working for her as she revitalizes her AIM business. Here are the simple steps Sandy takes to keep her AIM business thriving.

Sandy Combs

  1. Write down what is making you want to build your AIM business—your purpose. Review it daily. This is so important when your relatives try to tell you AIM is a waste of time. Your purpose is the greatest success tool you will have; it will get you over every obstacle.
  2. Use and know the products. Get into teleclasses. Watch AIM videos or listen to AIM audios and take notes. This way you will have answers to questions that may come your way.
  3. Make a notebook of the products by ordering a sample packet of the product data sheets. Use a 3-hole punch. Place testimony stories about each product behind each data sheet for easy reference. I also add a one-page sheet that I have put together myself. One side lists all of the products with a one or two line phrase listing benefits from the data sheets about each product. The other side lists the product prices and BVP, how to order products with AIM’s toll-free phone number and website, how to sponsor, how to get free shipping, and how to get product discounts with $165 US and $600 US orders.
  4. Read AIM Partners from cover to cover. AIM Partners is a great resource for product and business information which can be passed on to your Members who may not have read the magazine. Sandy Combs
  5. Make a list of people who you know as a contact list. Write the name of each person you contacted on your calendar so that you have a record of it and can see the progress.
  6. Call people to verify their address and tell them that you are putting some information in the mail to them. You would appreciate being able to call them in a few days and get their opinion. This way you will be sure to have their correct address, plus, they will be looking for your mail.
  7. Hold home meetings—just an hour long—using short segments from one of the videos available from AIM. Check out their great selection.
  8. Host potluck or salad/baked potato suppers followed by a short product meeting. People like to eat and talk. Allow the people attending to give a couple-minute explanation as to why they are using an AIM product—very interactive, interesting and informative.
  9. Send emails. Make your emails short, and focused on exciting product or business news. Stories about product successes are great. Call your downline and make sure that you have their current email address.
  10. Distributing regular newsletters is a great way to keep your downline informed. Keep them short or they won’t be read. I try to address topics that have been brought to my attention by questions presented during phone conversations to downline Members.
  11. Postcards printed on bright, florescent-colored paper are getting a great response. I just include a short statement as to “why we owe it to them to let them know why we use these particular AIM products.” I pick out three or four of the AIM products and just list some of the benefits noted in the data sheets for each product. It is bright and easy to read. The facts are simple and to-the-point. I include AIM’s toll-free phone number for ordering. It is less expensive and faster to send out to my downline than a letter.
  12. Nothing replaces a personal phone call or an in-person visit with your customers and downline. Follow-through is so important to make sure that they are using the products correctly and regularly. Their questions give me direction on what should be put in a newsletter or postcard.
  13. Get a separate business checking account. This will make your bookkeeping so much easier.
  14. Keep blank note cards, pens and stamps in a basket for quick and easy access. Send out notes of thanks, encouragement or just a friendly “Howdy” to your customers and Members. Your people want to know that you care more for them than just business dollars.
  15. Call or email your sponsor at least once a week. Daily contact with our sponsor and Members in those early days is what kept all of us excited and motivated—-keeping our goals and purpose right before us. That is when we saw the greatest amount of growth.
  16. Do it right now!!! Do NOT wait for the right weather, time or when you feel like it.
  17. Set a goal for a 25-customer base, 300 BVP Personal Volume, and a 3000 Group Volume.. This will keep your organization growing and help you realize some extra cash. And, you will be setting a model for your Members to follow.
