Ken and Cheryl Huxter – Million Dollar Club

Â
Ken and Cheryl Huxter—
If we can do it from here,
you can do it from anywhere

Ken and Cheryl Huxter became AIM Chairman’s Club Directors in October of 1995. This year they were inducted into the company’s Million Dollar Club at the AIM convention in San Antonio. Both accomplishments are major but the Huxters feel other AIM Members are capable of attaining the same recognition.

Says Ken: “If we can be successful living in a small town of 400 people on the island of Newfoundland working 16 hours a day running a restaurant in nearby Corner Brook, then anyone can do it from anywhere.”

So just exactly how did they do it? One person at a time, they say. Establish in that person a “belief in one product before you can get him to believe in everything else. The ultimate goal is to get him to believe in himself, that he can do it.”

The Huxters’ story of their involvement with AIM is not unlike many others. Cheryl needed something. She was suffering from high blood pressure. During a five-minute phone call with a relative of Cheryl’s, Ken was persuaded to order some green barley powder to see if it would help with Cheryl’s blood pressure. He ordered two bottles, and they began taking it. Both began feeling better immediately. “The next order we signed up (as Members) and ordered six bottles so we could get it wholesale because we saw a dramatic difference in both our health.” That was in the spring of 1988. “We got involved with AIM initially to see if it would help Cheryl’s health problems, but then we began sharing AIM with our customers, family, and friends.” And now they are among a select elite in The AIM Companies™ – Chairman’s Club Directors and Million Dollar Club Members.

So now what? “Same as before,” says Ken. “Keep on keeping on. We will continue to have fun, travel, and enjoy life. We want to help others do the same with AIM. We didn’t set out to make money with AIM. We just wanted something to improve our health. But I quickly saw AIM as a wonderful tool and as a path to a higher quality of life. Cheryl didn’t want to get involved because we were too busy in our restaurant for her to consider building another business. But she quickly caught the vision.”
Add the Huxters: “Give God the glory and thanks for making all this happen. And thanks to Paul Forgrave (Cheryl’s cousin who made the phone call that resulted in the Huxters buying some green barley powder) for having the guts to make that first phone call. Because without that first contact, nothing happens.”

The Huxters have three children, and seven grandchildren. They live on the Humber River near a ski resort in the Long Range Mountains of western Newfoundland. A perfect place to enjoy their hobbies – snowmobiling, skiing, fly-fishing, reading, and camping. A nice place to reflect on their former lives. Ken was a teacher and retired from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police after 25 years. Cheryl was a physician’s receptionist and a bank employee.

AIM BarleyLife® remains to this day the Huxters’ favorite AIM product. “It was the first product we had and it is the one that started it all.” Ken notes that “AIM has allowed us to have a wonderful life of better health, wealth, travel, speaking, and dealing with wonderful people in AIM and in our associates. AIM gave us freedom from being tied down to a long daily routine at our restaurant.”

With AIM, they have traveled to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, throughout North America, and have been on an Alaskan cruise. And there was one more special trip – a Million Dollar Club recognition in San Antonio. Ken’s words in 1995 when inducted into the Chairman’s Club ring just as true today: “I am happier doing this than anything I have ever
done in my life.”

Fats: The good, the bad and the ugly

Fat is not exactly a word one wants to hear in describing anything. But fat isn’t necessarily an all-bad word or negative description. One crucial aspect of weight management and health is “fat” content and type. What is a good fat? What is a bad fat? How much cholesterol is too much?

What are good fats?*

•Monounsaturated – Monounsaturated fats are called “good or healthy” fats because they can lower your bad (LDL) cholesterol. Among foods containing monounsaturated fats are avocadoes, almonds, olive oil, and sesame seeds. Be aware, however, that “good fat” does not necessarily equate to “low calorie.”

•Polyunsaturated – Polyunsaturated fats are also “healthy” fats. Sources of polyunsaturated fats include cottonseed oil, soybean oil, walnuts, some salad dressings, and pumpkin seeds.

•Omega-3 – Omega-3 fatty acids help prevent clogging of the arteries. Many of us are already aware that certain types of fish are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids, such as Albacore tuna, herring, and salmon. But there are plant foods that contain these great fats, too, such as tofu, walnuts, and the flax-sunflower-sesame seeds found in AIMega™.

How about this for a uniquely AIM idea? Next time you make a smoothie, break open and blend in six AIMega™ capsules to obtain a great nutty flavor and the Omega-3 fatty acids needed in a balanced diet.

What are bad fats?*

•Saturated – Saturated fats can raise your cholesterol level which increases your chances of having heart disease. To help determine if a fat is saturated, ask yourself, “Is it solid at room temperature?” If it is, it is a saturated fat. Examples of foods that contain saturated fats are high-fat dairy products (whole milk, cheese, butter, and regular ice cream) and processed meats (bologna, hot dogs, sausage), lard, and the skin of poultry. It is recommended that 10 percent or less of your total calories come from saturated fat (this means less than 20 grams a day for those who consume 2,000 calories a day). If a product contains one gram or less of cholesterol per serving it is considered a good candidate for consumption.

•Trans – Trans fats are produced when liquid oil is made into a solid fat. This process is called hydrogenation. Trans fats act like saturated fats and can raise your cholesterol level. Perhaps you have noticed the number of products on grocers’ shelves that make mention of the term trans fats. Listing trans fats on the label is now required, making it easier to identify foods with trans fat content. Items that are likely to contain trans fats are processed foods – chips, crackers, muffins, cakes, and most fast foods like French fries.

•Cholesterol – Your body makes some of the cholesterol in your blood. The rest comes from foods you eat. Foods from animals are sources of dietary cholesterol. Cholesterol from the foods you eat may increase your blood cholesterol, so it’s a good idea to eat less than 300 mg per day. Cholesterol is required on the label if the food contains it.
Sources of cholesterol include egg yolks, organ meats, and high-fat meats.

Fat plays a role in everything we consume and in what quantities we consume it. Omega-3 fatty acids assist in brain development, mono- and poly- unsaturated fats help you lower bad cholesterol (LDL), and implementing enough of the good fats in your diet will make you feel satiated (which means you eat less). They also play a vital role in your body’s ability to absorb the vitamins and minerals it needs to function at its best. So fat doesn’t have to be a bad word. It is only bad if you don’t understand it and don’t take steps to avoid the bad kinds of it.

AIM Prepzymes

Ladies and gentlemen, start your cells

PrepzymesThe human body in its most basic form is simply a collection of cells that join together to make us who we are, what we look like, etc. We are composed of some 10 trillion cells that are divided into about 200 varied types of cells. There are cells for all the various organs.

But cells by themselves do not function fast enough or efficiently enough to sustain life. Enzymes – there are more than 5,000 of them in the body – are necessary to catalyze the cells into action.
Enzymes provide a route of energy that enables a cell to perform its function much more quickly than it could without that spark. Think of the cells of your body like a motor just sitting there waiting to spring into action. Enzymes fire up the cells so they can perform their functions throughout the body.

The 5,000 or so enzymes in the body come and go. They go away as we age, they go away because they are cooked away in food preparation, and in formulating processed foods. Enzymes are especially sensitive to heat levels above 118 degrees Fahrenheit. Pasteurizing, canning, cooking, microwaving – anything producing heat in excess of 118 degrees – kills enzymes. One of the most vital functions of enzymes is to aid in digestion, which is becoming a larger issue in our society because of the dominance of prepared foods that are not as enzyme-rich as they were in their natural state. AIM PrepZymes® fills that void in today’s diet.

AIM PrepZymes® combines cultured enzymes, papaya fruit, and alpine wild garlic to aid in digestion. Lack of proper digestion can result in constipation, hemorrhoids, bloating, gas, fatigue, weight gain, weight loss, and headaches, just to note a few of the possible complications of poor digestion.

•Papaya fruit: This ingredient contains papain, an enzyme that affixes itself to proteins, helps with protein digestion, and has a relaxing effect on the stomach.

•Alpine wild garlic: This part of the AIM PrepZymes® formula has been shown to aid in digestion in addition to providing a level of antioxidant activity for the product.

•Cultured enzymes: These are important because they are cultivated, strained off, and purified so no fungi, bacteria, or yeasts remain. Cultured enzymes replace the naturally occurring enzymes lost in food processing and food preparation. They are also necessary to aid in digestion to overcome modern diets filled with fats, proteins, sugars, dairy products, snack foods, and processed foods.

Carmie JonesCarmie Jones, an AIM Director from South Holland, Illinois, understands the value and function of AIM PrepZymes®. “Whenever I eat cooked food I take 4-6 digestive enzymes, knowing that the enzymes naturally present in the foods were destroyed by heat. I also take a couple with fresh produce since I don’t know how long it sat there in a store or warehouse losing enzymes since it was picked. But I am especially glad to take them when eating cheese. No more migraine headaches triggered by cheese! In addition, I don’t get a stuffy head and thick throat as I do if I don’t take my enzymes. Hooray for AIM PrepZymes®.

AIM FloraFood – In goes the good bacteria, out goes the bad

Flora FoodProbiotics. Not a term you hear every day but an important word nonetheless to your overall health. Probiotics are live micro-organisms, such as those found in AIM FloraFood®, that have been shown to be beneficial in digestion but, of late, have also been linked to the prevention of some allergic conditions.

There are more than 100 trillion bacteria in the digestive system, some friendly and some unfriendly. The bacteria in the body weigh about 4 pounds (1.8 kg). When the unfriendly bacteria prevail, the results are not good – gas, bloating, diarrhea, intestinal toxicity, constipation, and malabsorption of nutrients. AIM FloraFood® is a natural way to enhance the good bacteria in the system and help rid the body of the bad bacteria.

AIM FloraFood® is basic in concept, simple in execution. Taking the product provides the body with friendly bacteria.

Lactobacillus acidophilus: It flourishes in the small intestine where it counteracts bacteria and micro-organisms associated with urinary tract problems. It also aids in developing defenses against bacteria and infections, thus boosting the immune system. In addition, antibiotics destroy both good and bad bacteria and this bacteria aids in re-colonizing the good bacteria. Lactobacilli in general produce substances that make the intestinal tract unsuitable for an unfriendly bacteria to survive.

Bifidobacteria: These are friendly bacteria living mainly in the large intestine. They fight internal disorders, boost the immune system, and aid in the production of B vitamins. There are two types in AIM FloraFood®, bifidobacterium bifidum, which boosts the body’s immune system and neutralizes unhealthy enzymes, and bifidobacterium longum, which thrives in the intestines and aids in promoting bowel regularity.

Miriam McDadeMiriam McDade, an AIM Director from Centereach, New York, understands the value of introducing good bacteria into the system in times of need. “I had a very bad reaction to food I ate which was cooked in canola oil. I had read that canola oil has negative effects on digestion and intestines but had never personally experienced any before. I was violently sick from the canola oil. I had not had an upset stomach in 20 years. I had repeated episodes of vomiting and diarrhea throughout the night about every two hours until the morning. In the morning my sponsor suggested that I take AIM FloraFood® by opening the capsules. I took the contents of two capsules mixed in water. The vomiting and diarrhea both stopped right after taking the AIM FloraFood®. I took two more capsules later in the day and I felt fine after that.”

While the digestive assistance value of the ingredients in AIM FloraFood® has been demonstrated through research, a study suggests the bifidobacterium bifidum “plays a role in suppressing certain types of allergic conditions.” According to an October 2005 study, “By enhancing the immune system with probiotics (oral servings of bifidobacterium bifidum, which reduced a component in the blood that causes allergic reactions), we can actually change conditions in the body, making allergic reaction less likely.”

But AIM FloraFood® remains foremost a digestive savior. It cleans the intestinal tract, purifies the colon, and promotes regular bowel movements. It creates lactic acid (thus preventing bad bacteria from gaining a foothold in certain parts of the body), helps produce antibiotics and antifungals, and plays a role in the destruction of molds, viruses, and parasites in addition to increasing the number of immune system cells. It also assists in the manufacture of vitamins and helps maintain healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and breaks down and rebuilds hormones.

AIM FloraFood® is such a simple concept, introducing friendly bacteria into the system, but it packs a whole lot of worthwhile outcomes.
