Timothy Young, still cancer-free

Imagine being told by doctors that you have between six to twelve months left to live.
Diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in February 2010, thirty-eight year-old Timothy Young was given less than a year to live. With the help of prayer and AIM, he defied the odds, sharing his experiences in a cover story for the February 2012 issue of Living Well magazine (read online at http://bit.ly/VBBH6Z). At this point in time, Timothy has lived over two years beyond his predicted death.

When asked how he was doing, Timothy responded, “Fantastic!” His upbeat take on what
life has dealt him may be a reflection of his strong faith, which, along with lifestyle disciplines, has greatly contributed to his state of good health. “Sometimes you have to look at the ugly side of life to experience the best it has to offer.”

Timothy has beaten the most deadly form of brain tumors. “On December 17, 2012, I had
my sixteenth MRI showing that I’m cancer-free.” A mistake often made by those with a serious health problem is to stop taking AIM products once they are given a clean bill of health, going back to old ways that may have been the source of disease. However, Timothy knows better.

“I first heard about AIM in April 2010 at the MD Anderson Cancer Clinic,” recalled Timothy. “I was told that it was a top-notch organization with first-class products that I still take every day—five AIM LeafGreens™ capsules in the morning and five at night, as well as three capsules of AIM Bear Paw Garlic® and two capsules of AIM Proancynol® 2000.” He has completely eliminated soft drinks from his diet, avoiding artificial sweeteners and limiting his intake of red meat. “I’m quite disciplined about the lifestyle changes I made.”

One thing beyond his control was the seizures he used to have once every six months. This prevented him from driving a vehicle, impacting his job as a police instructor in Kilgore, Texas. “Having a seizure is like being hit with a Taser,” explained Timothy, who still takes anti-seizure medications to be on the safe side. His last episode happened on October 1, 2011. He waited the required-by-law six months and added a few more before getting back behind the wheel in May 2012. “This has been the most dramatic change in my life in the past year.”

At Timothy’s last medical visit, his doctor said, “You are doing fantastic. Whatever you are doing, keep it up.” And this is exactly Timothy’s plan for the future.

Nutrition for the long-haul: Truck driving and AIM

For Jack and Eloise Murtaugh, AIM Preferred Members from Bel Air, Maryland, the open road is more than a calling. It is a profession.

The couple has been driving semi-trucks for Schneider National—the company with the ubiquitous orange trucks and trailers—for the past six-and-a-half years. The trucking lifestyle does not exactly lend itself to good nutrition and healthy eating, but the Murtaughs have found a way: AIM BarleyLife®.

“We’re out three or four weeks at a time,” Eloise said. “Really, it’s eat, drive, and sleep. BarleyLife is something where I know I’ve got some green nutrition to add to the food I’m going to be eating for the day.”

The Murtaughs spend as little as five or six days at home each month, and the rest of their time on the road and in the truck. The majority of the Murtaughs’ meals are made in the truck, and healthy food options are hard to come by due to lack of refrigeration, time, and space.

For this reason, BarleyLife has been a lifesaver.

“Ninety percent of the food we eat, we cook here in the truck,” Eloise said. “It’s so hard out here to eat as much as you can of your fruits and vegetables. BarleyLife has become something that helps sustain our health. The first thing I do when I wake up for my shift is have my green drink.”

Jack and Eloise take alternating, twelve-hour shifts driving the truck (longer shifts are not allowed by law); while one drives, the other sleeps. Eloise had the day shift for the first four years, “so I’ve seen everything,” she said. Jack now drives during the day, Eloise at night.

AIM products have been a part of their routine since 2011, when the Murtaughs joined as Members. The boost of wholefood nutrition has been a welcome addition to their diet. Both Jack and Eloise take the AIM Garden Trio®. Jack adds AIM Peak Endurance® and has noticed an improvement in his energy levels.

The Murtaughs went without AIM for the first five years on the road until Eloise met
Chairman’s Club Directors Jim and Carolyn Kling and Royal Emerald Director Cathy
McCrea on a trip to Nampa. Eloise was visiting family with her aunt, AIM Preferred
Member Marge Fuhrmann, 86, who has been taking BarleyLife for twenty years.

“My brother, who lives in Nampa, sings in the same choir as the Klings,” Eloise said. “My brother knew that the Klings were the BarleyLife people and that my aunt has been ordering her BarleyLife from AIM for all these years. He said, ‘I have to take you and Aunt Marge to meet the Klings.’ Oh my, we had such a nice time! We got talking about
BarleyLife—something I had originally heard about thirty years ago. I thought, ‘I need this stuff now.’”

AIM nutrition has been a necessary part of the Murtaughs’ driving ever since.

“The Garden Trio changed my life!”

Preferred Member Sharla Davison, from Nampa, Idaho, saw an immediate boost to her health when she began taking the Garden Trio.

“For about six years, I had recurring urinary tract infections (UTIs),” Sharla said. “For a couple years, I took antibiotics to get rid of them. Then I began to treat them naturally, which would get rid of the infection for a short time, but it would always come back. I started taking the Garden Trio about one year ago for a UTI, which went away within twenty minutes. It came back the next morning only very slightly, so I took more Garden Trio. That got rid of it. I take the Garden Trio every day now and have not had a UTI since.”

In addition to the Garden Trio, Sharla also takes AIM CranVerry+® (helpful for urinary health maintenance), AIM Herbal Fiberblend®, AIM Proancynol® 2000, AIM ProPeas™, AIM fit ’n fiber®, and AIM Peak Endurance®. Herbal Fiberblend was the first product that Sharla took when she joined AIM, and it remains a favorite.

“It’s my best friend,” she said. “I take it every day.”

Her use of Herbal Fiberblend and the Garden Trio along with guidance from Chairman’s Club Director Carolyn Kling and Royal Emerald Director Cathy McCrea helped her achieve a healthier weight. Over the past year, Sharla has lost fifty pounds.

“I knew I needed to eat right and exercise,” she said. “Because I already felt so much better with AIM products, it was so easy to make that change. I didn’t need a special weight loss diet. With Herbal Fiberblend and the Garden Trio, I feel healthier.”

Converting a church to a home with the help of AIM nutrition

Kees Vandermey is a Presbyterian Minister and, as such, he and his wife Darlene have lived in manses—homes owned by the church—in different locations during his ministry. Upon retirement, Darlene and Kees knew that they would have to move and buy their own home. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if their new home could be a church.

As it turned out, friends drew their attention to a church for sale in the village of Glen Allan, Ontario. Darlene suggested taking a drive out to look at the church, which was situated in a hilly area near the Conestoga River. One of their dreams was to retire near hills and water.

The original Presbyterian church had been built in 1887, replacing a wooden church destroyed in a fire. Sitting on three-quarters of an acre of land, the now United Church was being sold privately by bid due to low congregational
numbers. In 1975, a fire had gutted the church, so it had to be completely rebuilt on the inside. Instead of replacing the pews, chairs were used, and a drop ceiling had been put in; however, the ceiling was still high. There were three entrances—front, side, and back.

Darlene and Kees truly felt that God brought them to this point, so they put in an offer drawn up by a friend who was a real estate agent. They found out that he had been baptized in the very same church. On June 12, 2006, the day after the closing church service, Kees and Darlene received a call saying that out of the eight offers received, theirs had been accepted. The trustees had hoped to sell to another church group, but selling to a minister and his wife was “the next best thing” as they wanted the building to be respected for what it had stood for throughout its long history. Darlene and Kees met with the committee, and the closing date was October 13, 2006. For the next three years, renovations took place on Saturdays, Mondays, and holiday time.

All of the materials used in the renovation were either bought at auction, at Habitat for Humanity ReStore, or on sale. Kees and Darlene did the bulk of the planning and renovations themselves; from time to time they also had help of family and friends.

Renovations consisted of turning one very large sanctuary area into living space. They removed the carpeting and put masking tape on the floor to lay out the rooms, and building began. New windows and a new front door were installed, plus a heat pump that augments the furnace, giving heat in the winter and air-conditioning in the summer.

The end result of what used to be the sanctuary level is a kitchen, dining room, and living room, which are all open concept. The dining room is in the area where the pulpit once stood, and the original church cross remains a focal point. Also on the same floor is the master bedroom with en suite and a guest bedroom with a bathroom. The Vandermeys also built a laundry room and an exercise room that also serves as an office for Darlene’s AIM business.

In the basement, the original church kitchen has been turned into Kees’ workshop and indoor greenhouse. Storage areas have been built, and they have added another bedroom. The rest of the area is kept open for their many family and friend get-togethers, as Darlene and Kees love to entertain.

Darlene and Kees really put the AIM products to the test during the busy time of renovations, of which most was done by them, plus Kees was a full-time minister and Darlene worked her AIM business. The Vandermeys were not disappointed as they seemed to have energy to burn. Previously Darlene had recovered from fibromyalgia as a result of taking AIM nutrition. They have been using AIM BarleyLife®, AIM CellSparc 360®, CalciAIM™, AIM Frame Essentials®, AIM FloraFood®, AIM Kyolic® Aged Garlic Extract™, AIM PrepZymes®, AIM Proancynol® 2000, and AIM ProPeas™ for many years already. This has blessed them with good health and stamina to finish their dream home.

With all the renovations complete, they officially moved to their place, “Dream Haven,” at the time of Kees’ retirement in September 2009. Kees and Darlene invited those who had been part of the church into their new home for a thanksgiving and rededication of the church, so the church members could see what had transpired. The Vandermeys hoped it would help the members put closure on a painful time in their lives … and it did. It is never easy to close a church.

A public place of worship has been transformed into a home in which Kees and Darlene continue to glorify God in their daily lives as they share not only their home but also the AIM products with all whom they meet.

Providing nutrition to Hurricane Sandy victims

Long after the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy had faded from national news, the need for aid remained—and AIM Group Builder Jessica Danchik, along with Crisis Response International (CRI), continued to meet that need.

Jessica and her family (husband Jordan and two-year-old son J.J.) have served with Crisis Response since 2011. Before arriving in the New York area to assist with Hurricane Sandy relief, the Danchiks previously responded to the Japan tsunami/earthquake, the flooding and typhoon in the Philippines, and Israel’s eight-day conflict.

“We have always desired to help people,” Jessica said. “After hearing CRI’s vision for disaster relief, we were hooked. We knew that this is what our next step in life would be. We left our jobs and our lives in Orange County, California, and stepped out in faith, volunteering full time with this ministry.”

Crisis Response is currently serving in Lindenhurst, New York, a town on Long Island that was among one of the most affected areas during Hurricane Sandy. The Crisis Response team, which has been on the scene since day one, has helped to gut, restore, and rebuild homes and to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to those affected by the hurricane.

“Most organizations have left,” Jessica said, “but we have dug our heels in and plan to help these people get back on their feet.”

Part of Jessica’s job in Lindenhurst is to help oversee the kitchen. Since meals are acquired through donations, there is seldom a consistent supply of healthy, fresh foods.

This lack of nutrition is a problem that Jessica hopes to solve through healthy AIM supplements. She and her family regularly take the Daily Essentials—AIM BarleyLife®, AIM Herbal Fiberblend®, and AIMega®—plus AIM Para 90®. These products have helped keep them healthy throughout their journeys, and Jessica is confident that AIM nutrition can positively impact her fellow CRI workers and the people they serve.

To help meet the nutrition need in Lindenhurst, AIM donated Sample Packs of BarleyLife, Herbal Fiberblend, and AIM Peak Endurance®.

“We have helped some of the victims of Hurricane Sandy become aware of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle—that it not only affects you physically but mentally and emotionally, too,” Jessica said. “This has been such a great feeling to get people back on their feet physically, helping them through tragedy of loss, and also being able to guide them to living a healthy lifestyle.”

“AIM has products that work”

Shared by Christine Horvath Miller, Preferred Member in Chapin, South Carolina

I must shout from the proverbial rooftop. I have been using AIM products now for sixteen months and not had so much as a sore throat. No common cold. No flu. No cough or upper respiratory “anything.” And, not even one of my usual two to four annual sinus infections. Also, I have not suffered from hay fever last spring or this fall. This totally blows my mind. I usually end up being on antibiotics several times a year, and this has happened for the past thirty years. In fact, I haven’t been on any antibiotics since starting AIM products. AIM truly does have products that work.

I take AIM Herbal Fiberblend® (a must for me to manage my severe irritable bowel syndrome), AIM BarleyLife®, AIM LeafGreens™ (really helps my allergies), AIM Proancynol® 2000, and AIM FloraFood®—biggies for boosting my immune system. As well, I use AIM GinkgoSense™, AIM Renewed Balance®, and AIMega® for its omega-3 and-6 essential fatty acids. My list of products also includes AIM GlucoChrom™, AIM PrepZymes® (when I do eat junk), AIM Composure® as needed (I have finally gotten off Xanax PTL), AIM Frame Essentials® as needed, and AIM Cell Wellness Restorer™ for nightly foot soaks or to apply directly to sore muscles. AIM Peak Endurance® is my favorite product and a must every day for all these wonderful products and food to work effectively on a cellular level due to the ATP that decreases as we age.

It’s important to know that I did not start out with all these products. I just added slowly. Some products last for a couple of months or more, so I am not buying all of these every single month. Along with AIM supplementation, I made significant dietary and lifestyle changes. For example, I cut out caffeine, diet soda, most dairy, most gluten, and most meat. I eat about 75 percent raw/organic as I can afford. I do regular exercise and get at least twenty minutes of sunshine daily. I’ve also improved my sleep habits, so I’m getting more rest. It’s been very important to learn how to effectively manage my stress.

As a result of all the many health benefits I have received, I am so honored to share AIM products with my friends and family. Go AIM!

Overcoming cancer with AIM BarleyLife

I grew up on a farm and helped my father to grow many vegetables, namely green beans. We plowed, planted, fertilized, and weeded,
helping each seed grow to its fullest potential. By caring for plants and nurturing them to maturity, I would learn that our bodies must be carefully nurtured in much the same way to maintain health and wellness. My passion for health and an interest in the human body led me to become a physical and health educator and coach. My husband, Mike, and I raised three children, Tim, Heidi, and Bryan, all of whom were high-level athletes.

It was around Christmas of 1991 while on a family vacation that the health of our daughter Heidi took a terrible turn for the worse. Her neck started to swell. Within hours, she had a lump the size of a tangerine. We immediately took her to the emergency room. A few days later, we received the diagnosis that Heidi had Hodgkin’s disease—cancer of the lymphatic system—and a sizeable tumor near her thyroid.

It was devastating and unbelievable. Heidi was a sophomore at the academic top of her class at Oregon State University. She was also an amazing dancer and a strong gymnast with the determination of an Olympic athlete. How could she have cancer?

Tears, fear, and darkness seemed to be with us every moment during the next few days. What happens now I wondered? The scripture “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength” helped calm me.

Knowing the healing power of nutrition, we sought the advice of a naturopathic doctor, in addition to seeing an oncologist. Heidi’s blood work revealed a very extreme phosphorous-calcium ratio, very low iron, and other poor markers. Recommendations were given to stop drinking sodas and increase plant-based foods. I knew we could influence these markers with concentrated plant juices; however, it was highly recommended by the oncologists that Heidi have both radiation and chemotherapy for her cancer. I was silently hoping for no chemo to better protect her body systems for the upcoming challenge, but it needed to be her decision.

It was about five days into the ordeal, at the end of a prayer meeting, when a gentle, male voice spoke quietly, “There are other ways to heal besides chemo you know.” He turned to me and added, “Look into green barley.” He had used the AIM product and was confirming what I already knew about the power of plant juices.

Heidi decided to do only the radiation therapy in conjunction with high-level nutrition to build healthy cells. With God leading the way, and AIM BarleyLife® as her nutritional armor, she set out to gain her health back. Along with giving her barley grass juice powder, we added freshly juiced carrots and beets, omega-3, and AIM FloraFood®, all in mega doses, and nutritionally upgraded her diet.

During the first week, her blood work began to move back towards normal. She was able to continue her radiation on specific tissues
without her blood going into a critical zone. Each week the tumor shrunk dramatically. The oncologist was amazed. Heidi took the winter term off for the therapy and to concentrate on “internally” building her body. Only two and a half months later at her final checkup, the doctor said, “As far as I am concerned, you are healed.” These words will never be forgotten. Today Heidi is fine, fit, a physical therapist, and the mother of three little boys. Thank you, Lord!

I continue to reach out and teach the power of BarleyLife and plant concentrates to those with health issues, as well as to athletes to
upgrade their performances. I have seen many sick bodies become well and athletes build more stamina. Green is golden, especially in the most elite form. Capturing the living “Life” in a powder is most difficult. AIM did it with BarleyLife.

Heidi’s Journey …

The most difficult thing I faced along this journey was actually being given the diagnosis of cancer. Sure, I drank too much diet soda and taxed my body with excessive exercise and minimal sleep, but in my mind I was invincible, after all I was a “healthy”
twenty-year-old college student.

Reflecting back on my walk through cancer, I can honestly say many lessons were learned. I learned to trust God with every aspect of my
life, to balance my passions including exercise, and to treat my body as the temple God has made it to be. To this day, I have a great respect for the human body and its ability to heal itself given the proper nutrition and exercise. I realize that regardless of our age, physical condition, or genetic makeup each of us is susceptible to disease. It is our responsibility to keep our bodies strong so that when faced with disease, we can resist it.

Like my mother, I have a passion to pass this information on to others, BarleyLife® and for me this begins at home. While my three boys are still young, ranging from five to nine years old, I daily instill in them the importance of nutrition. In fact, BarleyLife is the first thing we drink in the morning and the first thing my boys ask for when they start to feel sick. As a mother, that makes me smile. Knowing my boys understand the importance of nutrition at such a young age makes my cancer journey worthwhile.

J.R. Celski sets the short-track speedskating world record in the 500-meters

AIM-sponsored athlete J.R. Celski became the first speed skater ever to skate the 500-meter race in under 40 seconds, setting a new world record in the final of a World Cup event in Calgary in October.

J.R. won the event by skating the 500 meters in 39.973 seconds, breaking the previous world record set by Russia’s Vladimir Grigorev in a preliminary race earlier in the competition.

To go along with his gold in the 500 meters, J.R. also won a bronze in the 1,000-meter race. The World Cup competitions feature the best skaters in the world and provide a good measuring stick for the competition J.R. may face at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

At the World Cup 2 competition the following weekend in Montreal, J.R. took silver in the 1,000-meter race and a bronze medal in the 5,000-meter team relay.

J.R. has relied on AIM nutrition since he was twelve years old (now twenty-two). Prior to winning two bronze medals in the Vancouver Olympic Games, J.R. suffered a career-threatening injury at the Olympic Trials only five months prior to his medal-winning effort in Vancouver. His injury—a deep slice into his leg, following a crash—
required surgery, 60 stitches, and time away from training. J.R. credits the AIM products, such as the AIM Garden Trio®, AIMega®, AIM Proancynol® 2000, and AIM LeafGreens™, with helping to speed his recovery.

Two of J.R.’s current favorite products are AIM Peak Endurance® and CalciAIM™.

Migraine relief with all-natural supplements

Kerry Chambers is a high-performance individual from South Africa. You can tell by the way she carries herself—not bashful, disrespectful, or arrogant. She has an air of confidence and strength that you do not see in everyone. Kerry also has a newfound air of joy and freedom, which has not always been the case. From the age of eleven, Kerry suffered from debilitating migraines.

It was a struggle for her from day one. Who would think that an eleven-year-old could get migraine headaches? Little Kerry suffered from regular attacks, which only seemed to get worse. The family took her to see every specialist, all of whom prodded, probed, and scanned her from head to toe in an effort to alleviate the excruciating pain. Not a single doctor was able to identify the actual cause, and even worse, they were not able to offer any relief. The migraines continued, and many of the specialists determined that Kerry’s migraines were most likely the result of a neck injury that must have occurred during her years of competitive diving.

Back when she was only four, Kerry was already a determined athlete in the sport of platform diving. She represented South Africa in international competitions, and at the age of thirteen, Kerry was sent off to Leeds in England to train for the Olympics. But the hard grind of four to seven hours of intense training per day eventually took a toll on her, and she later opted out of professional sports altogether in favor of enjoying all of them. By the time she reached her teens, the severity of her headaches worsened, often building in pain over a few weeks and then manifesting with sometimes as many as three migraine attacks a day, or culminating in an enormous cluster of five or six in a single day, which would leave Kerry without sight for up to twenty-four hours. Unsympathetic teachers in a rigid school system insisted that she carry on through the pain, making her studies a misery. The young girl’s social dilemma of not ever being able to be dependable meant isolation and rejection.

In Kerry’s case, no migraine trigger was identified. Migraines came upon her at any given time without much warning. The constant nausea following an attack meant that her sleep patterns were terribly erratic, which greatly affected her scholastic performance. While Kerry learned to live with the condition, it was traumatic for her to have to deal with people’s disbeliefs that she even had a condition and their condescending looks as if to say, “She is probably just faking it again.” Doctors prescribed Trepiline (anti-depressant) and Topamax (anticonvulsant) and sent her on her way.

In 2011, when Kerry had finals at school, the attacks became violent, leaving her without depth perception and preventing her from studying. Desperate to see her succeed, her parents gave up on the orthodox approach and took her to see AIM Chairman’s Club Director Judy Dolev.

Judy asked her for only one thing: “Give me at least three months. If I cannot get rid of your migraines in that time, then I won’t be able to help you.” Judy put Kerry on a regimen of AIM LeafGreens™, AIM CellSparc 360®, AIM GinkoSense™, and CalciAIM™.

Within the space of three months, the migraines moved out. During those first three months, Kerry experienced a small number of attacks, but nothing compared to what she used to have. As the exams approached, her family held their breaths, expecting an onslaught with the additional stress, but it never came. Kerry sailed through her exams without a single migraine for the first time in nearly eight years. Her body chemistry had improved with the use of AIM products.

Kerry is now lively, bubbly, and full of joy, and living in Cape Town, where she has embarked on a career in fashion. The pain, discomfort, and embarrassment of the migraines have left her—seemingly for good.

Migrain causes and triggers

One of the causes of migraines may be changes in body chemistry. For example, during a migraine, levels of serotonin decrease in a part of the brain, resulting in a narrowing of blood vessels, which go into spasm. This might be the cause of visual disturbances (including flashing lights, zigzag lines, and hallucinations) called migraine auras. Soon after, the blood vessels dilate, which is thought to cause the headache. The exact reason for the drop in serotonin is not yet fully understood.

Some scientists believe that fluctuating levels of hormones are closely linked to the cause of migraines. Some women who experience
migraines say they are more likely to have an attack around the time of their period. This is known as a menstrual migraine. Just before a period, levels of estrogen fall. Women can have menstrual migraines from two days before to three days after the first day of their period. About one in seven women who get migraines have an attack only around the time of their period. This is known as a pure menstrual migraine. Around six in ten women with migraines have attacks at other times, too.

The many factors identified as migraine triggers create a list that seems endless. Such triggers include emotional, physical, dietary,
environmental, and medicinal factors. We all have many of these potential triggers in our own lives, but not every body responds the
same way.

BarleyLife helps teenager regain her health

ed’s note: Testimony shared by Sarah Byrne, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

I remember a time when being sick meant having a runny nose or a sore tummy. Now, I see it as something that I had been living in fear of.

I may have looked and acted like a normal teenage girl, but inside, it was a completely different story. Fatigue, extreme cramps, loss of appetite, mood swings, chest pains, migraines, and muscle spasms were normal for me. Imagine having all of these problems, and doctors still tell you that you’re healthy. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard, “Go take some Advil—that should help for a little while.” What they didn’t understand was that I didn’t want just “a
little while,” I wanted long-term good health.

I never understood why everything seemed wrong with me, but according to the doctor, I was a healthy girl. In 2010, at the age of sixteen, I got really sick. It started on my lips as cold sores
that spread to my mouth and then down my throat and stomach. There was pain that I can’t even begin to explain. Along with a temperature of 104, I couldn’t eat, drink, or talk because when I tried, it felt like I was swallowing knives. Sleeping was my only option.

We called the health line and went to doctors, the Urgent Care Center, walk-in clinics, and hospitals. I prayed that I would be given the strength to get through it without any help, but with no food or water, a hospital was where I needed to be. Finally at McMaster Children’s Hospital emergency, where they could not draw my blood because it was too thick, I was rushed into ICU. They told me that if I had waited another day, I probably would’ve died. An infectious disease specialist called me a medical mystery. After
two weeks of IV for nutrition, I was discharged. They said I was better, but I wasn’t better.

It came back in the spring of 2012. I feared the same things would occur and that I would be hospitalized once again. Many medical visits later, they still didn’t know the cause of what had made me fear even the common cold. My mom heard that there was something that would give me the nutrients I needed to help restore unhealthy cells. She called AIM Directors Fred and Marlene Hampshire and asked if we could get AIM BarleyLife® as soon as possible. Fred made a personal visit, giving us what he had left of his own while we waited for our order to make its arrival. I took it immediately.

Because of the sores, I couldn’t swallow, so I swished around the BarleyLife in my mouth to fight off the infection. Within three days after I started swallowing it, I was off my meds and almost completely healthy. Within a week, I was doing gym, homework, and got a grade of 89 percent on my vocals test the day I returned to school.

I’ve come to realize that sometimes we have to be weak to get stronger, and I believe that BarleyLife was a big part of what helped me find my strength. I am grateful that I received it when I did.

Thanks, Fred and Marlene, Edna Smith (Chairman’s Club Director), and the staff at AIM that gave my mother advice. As an eighteen-year-old, I’m thrilled to be able to work at my summer job, play soccer, and no longer be afraid of sickness—even the common cold.
